Choosing laminate for stairs specifically
Not every laminate plank is suited to stairs. We only quote AC4 (heavy residential) or AC5 (commercial-grade) products for a staircase, since anything lighter will start showing wear at the nosing within a year. We also lean toward a 12mm thickness where we can - the extra board thickness feels sturdier underfoot and holds the matching nosing more cleanly.

How we install laminate stairs
Laminate floats in the main room, but on stairs it has to be glued and mechanically fastened. We use construction adhesive plus hidden brad nails behind the nosing on every tread, glue riser caps into place, and finish with color-matched caulk so there's no visible gap. Done properly, a laminate staircase runs quiet, resists scratches, and passes for real hardwood at a glance.

Yes - we use the same plank for both. The only difference is the matching nosing at the front edge of each stair, sourced from the same manufacturer so grain and color line up exactly.
They're roughly as slip-resistant as satin-finished hardwood. We can add discreet anti-slip tape under each nosing for households with older family members or active pets.
Yes. We remove any carpet first, level the treads if they need it, and install directly over the top - no need to tear out the staircase underneath.
